If you follow Jeremy or me on Instagram (@katiekloberdanz and @jpkloberdanz), you know that we’ve been in Fiji for a week and a half or so. Once we finished galavanting around Palm Springs, we took a non-stop flight from LAX to Nadi, Fiji.
Since long term travel is our goal, we are always somewhat budget conscious. Keeping this in mind, we decided to stay at a backpacker’s resort. Some of them have dorms only, which is just a ton of beds in one room and a shared bathroom. I’m not THAT budget conscious and I highly value my privacy. We found a backpacker’s resort called Mango Bay Resort that also offered individual “bures”, which is a traditional Fijian hut.
I had no idea what to expect and to be honest, we were both pretty nervous. However, Mango Bay totally blew us away! We’ve since moved on to the Shangri-La, but when it comes to value for the money, you really can’t beat Mango Bay. The breakfast was simple but good, our bure was maintained well and cleaned daily (something I’ve since learned is not always a given at a backpacker’s resort), there was free wifi, snorkeling, and kayaking. I was pleasantly surprised and will be totally willing to stay in a backpacker’s place in the future!
