The Sky’s The Limit: Burj Khalifa, Dubai

Dubai has a lot of the “World’s Tallest/Best/Biggest/etc.” items. One of the most popular attractions in the city is the World’s Tallest Building, the 2,722 foot tall Burj Khalifa.

We bought tickets online through Expedia, and grouped it with the day we spent shopping at Dubai Mall (the World’s Largest Shopping Mall of course), which is the most overwhelming slash amazing place I’ve ever been. Every store you can imagine is here, from the ultra exclusive, to the bargain shops. We spent hours in here and didn’t buy a thing. They also have a Hello Kitty Spa, Ladurée outpost, a 10,000 square foot candy store, and an insane aquarium with sharks and stingrays, right in the middle of the mall.

The Mall had a dinosaur skeleton inside. Behind that, you can see the entire SHOE WING.

The aquarium inside the Mall. Sorry for the poor quality, it's pretty hard to take a good pic through glass.

Anyway, the entire trip up the Burj is a treat. Right inside, there’s a model of the Burj, and overall, there’s a lot of attention paid to providing information on the construction of the tower. We went up to the outdoor observation deck on the 124th floor. Outside was just SO cool. There are plexiglass panels surrounding it, but there are holes where you can pop your hand out for a photo op (just don’t drop that camera!!).

There’s a gift shop as well, my favorite item were these gold snow globes.

Pressed a penny at the top! (Well, we paid 2 dirham and there was already little bronze coins inside the machine.)

Don’t miss going up to the 125th floor, it’s much quieter, and the intricate ceiling work makes for some excellent photos. Plus, it’s one more floor up, which is in the spirit of bigger, better, taller Dubai.

The 125th Floor - quieter, less crowded, absolutely don't forget to go up here.
