Barcelona, Spain

We hadn’t planned on going to Barcelona. But at least 4 separate people told me recently that Barça is their favorite city in Europe, and we were so close, we had to go check it out.

Our hosts came back on Friday night, and we didn’t need to meet my mom until early Wednesday morning, so we had a bit of time. I found a cheap rental car, booked a perfect flight from Barça to Paris that landed at almost the same time as my mom’s, and off we went.

I was majorly disappointed in the drive up the coast, it just wasn’t as scenic as I anticipated and the tolls were outrageous (we paid 42 euro to drive on one road UGH). But the 6ish hour drive went by so fast and we finally made it to our little flat in the Gothic Quarter.

All those people that raved about Barcelona were NOT wrong. It is fantastic. The weather was amazing, cool in the morning and raging hot by the afternoon.

The city was lively and the people were so friendly. Of course, everyone loooooved Lilly, she’s the most popular girl everywhere we go.

We went to Park Güell, Sagrada Familia, the Arc del Triomf, Parc de la Ciutadella, Museu Picasso, Port Vell, Basilica de la Mercé, Happy Pills, and a ton of other adorable places.

We strolled and strolled until all of us were completely exhausted.

Weirdly, we ate at the most delicious ramen restaurant (Koku Kitchen on Carrer e’En Carabassa) and of course, we also had warm churros and spicy paella, which are two of my favorite things in life.

I’d love to come back to Barcelona when we could have a bit more time, but I am so glad we decided to squeeze it in. I can definitely see why everyone raves about this city! (PS They had free wifi in so many places, which also contributed to the love I feel.)
