When we were looking for a place to see windmills during our time in The Netherlands, Zaanse Schans kept coming up. After 3 days spent in German Christmas Market bliss, we drove back to the Netherlands and straight to Zaanse.
It was a really cute little “town” that’s free to enter, and with several windmills on display. Pups were allowed on their leash, and you could rent bikes if you’re lucky enough to be there on a sunny day.
They had some shops as well, where we stopped in for Dutch pancakes and hot chocolate. We shopped for more cheese of course, and I did two complete laps around the store to sample every cheese they sell.
Out back, there were tons of baby goats, and Lilly made a new friend!
They also had a whole shop selling wooden clogs and demonstrating how they’re made. It was very cool.
After the rain picked up and cut our trip short, we went to the little canal house Jeremy got on Airbnb for the night. Suddenly, the rain stopped and we were treated to the most beautiful sunset.
What a way to end our last night with the family, huh?!
